Beach Sales was painted from a photograph I took in Mexico with a telephoto lens, sitting in a beach chair.  He was a fascinating salesman in traditional all white attire. I loved the colored baskets.  It was pure fortune to photograph him with his hand tipping his hat.  I love the interesting ground surface painting in this work and the soft atmospheric background.
